You can be enjoying a delicious cup of Sugar Free Matcha Latte in no time. It’s the perfect drink for anyone following a low carb, sugar free or keto way of eating. Did you know you can also enjoy your latte iced? Simply serve it cold over 1/2 cup of ice for a refreshing latte in the warmer months.
Matcha is great for increased metabolism and immunity, and is energy boosting as well. It’s also contains a lot of caffeine and is great for your immune system as well.
INGREDIENTS FOR A LOW CARB SUGAR FREE MATCHA LATTE
While this recipe features pure/heavy cream and almond milk, you can use coconut cream to avoid dairy or for a vegan option. Feel free also use any other milk that fits in with your way of eating, such as coconut or cashew milk. Use your favourite sweetener and sweeten to suit your own taste. If you find the matcha is slightly bitter, vary the amount of matcha that you add. Additional sweetener can be added to counteract any associated bitterness.
WHAT IS MATCHA POWDER?
Matcha powder is ground up whole young green tea leaves and it delivers a wonderful array of nutrients as well as being an amazing antioxidant boost. It’s much more intense than a standard cup of green tea and is a great energy and metabolism booster and aids with detoxing as well. While my absolute favorite way to use matcha is in this sugar free matcha latte, it can be used in many different ways. Sprinkle it in smoothies and incorporate it in baked goods to get more of it’s associated healthy benefits into your diet.
While the leaves are the same as the regular green tea leaves, the tea preparation and how you drink it is totally different. By digesting the whole leaf in Matcha, you get a lot of additional benefits in comparison to regular green tea. Not only is there increased chlorophyll but also lots of healthy amino acids such as L-Theanine (antioxidants). Matcha was traditionally made centuries ago among Zen Buddhist monks. Today it is still served traditionally in tea ceremonies in Japan but is enjoyed by many all around the world.
