Low Carb Raspberry Protein Smoothie

Low Carb Raspberry Protein Smoothie

Low Carb Raspberry Protein Smoothie

This low carb raspberry protein smoothie is perfect for a delicious breakfast or even a post work out drink. There is no need to waste money on buying an expensive smoothie while you are out when you can make one at home exactly as you like it.

So Quick To Make

Simply blitz this smoothie all together in a blender such as a Nutri Bullet. You need a fairly powerful blender to ensure the muesli is well blended and not lumpy. If you don’t have any of this Low Carb Muesli made up already, simply add a teaspoon each of the following nuts and seeds or whichever ones you have at hand such as chia seeds, psyllium husks, pepita seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, linseed/flax seeds and coconut flakes/desiccated or shredded.

This delicious icy blend of raspberries, muesli and vanilla protein powder, blitzed together with yogurt, to make a creamy low carb and low sugar smoothie is absolutely perfect for when you need breakfast, lunch or even just a nourishing smoothie on the run. I use this as more of a nutritional boost than a sweet drink and as I’m watching my sugar intake, I use a minimal amount of raspberries. You could add more if you wish to.

Protein Powder

The protein powder is optional in this smoothie and it is a bonus if you need some extra protein in your diet. You can omit it if you wish to but equally, you can increase the amount of protein as well. If you omit the protein powder, you will probably want to use a creamier base rather than just water, such as coconut cream, almond milk or half water and half cream. You will find that the smoothie is not going to be as sweet either, as the protein powder sweetens it. Make sure also that the protein powder is low carb. One of my favorite low carb brands to use is Gold Standard. Gold Standard make a couple of different vanilla flavors all of which taste great.

If you are looking for some other drinks or smoothies to assist with boosting protein check out this delicious recipe for a Low Carb Coffee Chocolate Protein Frappe as well. This is much more of a coffee and protein hit than a nutritional boost. There is also a great tasting recipe for a Sugar Free Blueberry Chia Protein Smoothie, which is great for breakfast on the go or for a more substantial and nutritional smoothie, because of the added spinach, sunflower seeds and chia seeds.
