Low Carb Peruvian Pisco Sour Cocktail

Free from sugar and just like the real thing, this Low Carb Peruvian Pisco Sour Cocktail is absolutely divine. Fresh lemon juice combined with the Peruvian spirit Pisco and egg white is combined with some low carb simple syrup, to create a refreshing, frothy, lemon cocktail delight. Absolutely perfect for a girls night in, a cocktail party or a themed South American party.

There is a bit of competition over who makes the best Pisco Sour with the Colombian’s and the Peruvian’s both claiming victory. This particular recipe is based on the Peruvian version. Sampling a Pisco Sour Cocktail for the first time in a South American restaurant in Melbourne was the beginning of my Pisco Sour love affair. Trying to make my own was a bit of chore, especially a sugar free version, so I decided to create my own recipe. Admittedly, I did struggle a bit to find a bottle of Pisco, as a lot of bottle shops simply don’t sell it. Thankfully I found a bottle on ebay at one of the online liquor stores. You may have to do the same if you can’t find a bottle in a local store.

Now this is an amazing way to use up any of your left over egg whites. Simply freeze any leftover egg whites in lots of 2 and defrost them when it’s time for one of these delicious cocktails. Well 2 actually because I have 2 egg whites…what a shame. That is how it rolls with these fabulous tasting Low Carb Peruvian Pisco Sours!

Pisco Sour

Sugar Free Pisco Sour

Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 60 ml /2 oz Pisco
  • 30 ml /1 oz lemon juice
  • 30 ml /1 oz low carb simple syrup or a few drops of liquid stevia
  • 1 egg white

Instructions

  • Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker for 30 seconds.
  • Top up the shaker with ice.
  • Shake till icy and strain into a cold glass.
  • Garnish with a sprinkling of Angostura bitters

Low Carb Simple Syrup

  • Boil 1 cup of water with 1/4 cup powdered stevia or suitable amount of alternative sweetener for 5 minutes
  • Store in a sterile glass jar in the fridge for up to 2 months
