This Low Carb Espresso Martini Cocktail Recipe offers you 2 versions of the cocktail. The first version uses a home made recipe for Sugar Free Coffee Liquor and is more along the lines of a traditional Espresso Martini while the second recipe, is also a divine, sugar free version of a classic Espresso Martini Cocktail but can be made without using any coffee liquor. Try it, for a delicious coffee and vodka based cocktail, with hints of chocolate and cream.
Sugar Free Mixology
If you love coffee, you are going to love both of these cocktails. Both of these versions are lovely cocktails that you can enjoy on a low carb and low sugar lifestyle. These recipes also prove that this is another classic cocktail that still remains a great tasting cocktail even without all of the added sugar. I have had to make the coffee liquor free martini a little creamier than the traditional Espresso Martini. This was necessary due to the flavor of the coffee, which needed a little creaminess to improve the taste. Trust me though, it certainly doesn’t detract from the taste and I’m certain you are going to love both versions of this drink.
What Coffee Should You Use?
A traditional Espresso Martini is actually made with espresso which is referred to as a shot of brewed coffee. If you don’t have an espresso machine, you could use left over coffee from a percolator or dripolator but you would want it to be really strong coffee and it should measure about 30 mls or 1 oz. You could possibly use instant coffee in this recipe If you didn’t hedge any other options. But…..this is called an Espresso Martini for a reason, so use espresso if you can.
Sweetener
You can use liquid sweetener such as Sweet Leaf drops in the coffee liquor free recipe. Do use them sparingly though, as 2-3 drops can be the equivalent of 1 teaspoon of sugar. Make sure you read the label of any liquid sweetener drops you may want to use, as the strength can vary. You can also make your own “Low Carb Simple Syrup”, which I have included in the recipe below. It will last for up to 2 months in the fridge, and is perfect to use in a drink like this. I personally would make the low carb simple syrup, purely for the reason that it is going to dilute your drink a little bit, which may actually be your saving grace at the end of the evening.
