This Low Carb Cosmopolitan Cocktail  is a refreshing sugar free, low carb vodka based cocktail made with cranberry juice and lime or lemon juice. I love that I can include cocktails like this into my low carb lifestyle. This drink is another classic cocktail that even when decarbed is a great tasting, refreshing drink. Who says that low carb or sugar free eating and drinking is limiting?

A Cosmo is generally made with an orange liquor, which you of course don’t want to use because it is full of sugar. I have replaced the orange liquor with some Organic Orange Extract. It does an amazing job replacing the orange liquor and it’s because of this that the flavors in this cocktail are pretty spot on. I don’t like to scrimp when I buy extracts because I hate artificial flavors so do yourself a flavor and buy quality (organic if you can afford it) extracts. The orange one I have at the moment is made by Frontier and I bought it from iHerb.

You can use liquid sweetener such as Sweet Leaf drops in this recipe. Do use them sparingly though as 2-3 drops is the equivalent of 1 teaspoon of sugar. Make sure you read the label of any liquid sweetener drops you may want to use,as the strength can vary. I generally buy my Sweet Leaf drops (my preferred brand) from iHerb as well. You can also make your own “Low Carb Simple Syrup”, which I have included the recipe below. It will last for up to 2 months in the fridge, and is perfect to use in a drink like this.
